BURLINGAME, Calif. - Fresno Fuego notched their third win in three games to start the 2017 season Sunday, beating Burlingame Dragons FC 3-0 in a PDL Southwest Division tie in the Bay Area. The Fuego were led by Joey Chica, who opened the scoring just before halftime with a superb strike near the edge of the penalty area. Chica was assisted by forward Naia Graham to give Fresno the lead.

After the restart, the teams traded possession in midfield without many clear-cut chances until the 61st minute when Chica struck again, making it 2-0 to the Fuego. It was Chica's 3rd goal in all competitions on the season, second to Jose Cuevas' team-leading 4 goals. The game was put to bed in the 77th minute, when Fresno winger Diego Casillas was brought down in the penalty area and converted from the spot, making it 3-0 and wrapping up the 3 points.
The win Sunday keeps the club atop the PDL Southwest division standings, level on points with FC Golden State Force at 6 a piece.
The club returns to action this Wednesday, May 17, as Phoenix Rising FC comes to town for the 2nd round of the 2017 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. That match will be played at Fresno State's Soccer Field with kick-off set for 7pm. Capacity is limited to 2000 spectators and a sellout crowd is expected.
